Thanks for all your research. It’s great that you have the McDermott Store ledger! I can’t wait to see that!

    • Eileen — I hope to get it straightened out so you can actually see the ledger! I put up a few pages but they are too light. Back to the drawing board…I will get it right eventually! Who were your parents? Thanks for the comments, and check back for the ledger!

    Hi Aine,
My parents were John and Mary (Kent) Doherty, both Tara Township families. I now live near Morris and may go over to the UMM Historical Research Center to see the ledger. My sister, Sharon, & I have been over there a couple of years ago for some other research.
Maybe I can get some better copies of ledger pages for you.

    • Eileen — Didn’t your mother do one of the oral histories they have at Morris? A few years ago my mom and I did some research there and at that time, we had photo copies made of some of the pages in the ledger (pages that had our families on them!) The ledger is so much fun to look through, and I have highlighted some of the interesting entries in the blog. I was eager to have the entire ledger, because I wanted to get a feel for everyone who came to the store, not just my relatives. The scans I received are just a little too light…I need to look into this. Did you grow up in Tara/Clontarf area? Hope you are having a good weekend! Aine
