New Page!

We have a new feature on the blog – AROUND TOWN.

This is the place to learn the inside scoop on Clontarf happenings.  Anne will update us weekly on all the news – especially when people come to town looking for family history.

Just click on the AROUND TOWN link at the top of the page, below History of Clontarf, Minnesota.  Or click here.

By the way, we only received one guess on the price of 50 pounds of salt in 1884 and it was way off.  Any other guesses?  Add a reply at the bottom of the post.  I’ll give the correct answer next time.

Doris Goulet, 92, passed away at Golden Living – Meadowlane in Benson.
Look for her obit at http://www.wctrib.com Tues.
    Funeral Wed. 10 am
Doris was a Macklin before she married Herman. They lived on Herman’s home place/farm west of Clontarf 3 mi. Herman’s mother, Sylvia, lived with them and helped raise the 7 children: Wayne, Joyce, Lavonne, Marvin, Eddie, Ray, & Roy.
Herman was a jolly fellow that played the fiddle. He died suddenly in 1968 or ’69, I think.
Herman had one brother that died young (20?) but was married with one son, Tom. Tom’s mother married again to Siebe (SEEB) Wilts of Murdock.
Herman had six sisters. Two married VanderWeyst brothers and two married Klassen brothers.
Doris had several siblings, but only Dorothy lives locally. Doris & Dorothy married in a double ceremony at the Church of St. Malachy here at Clontarf in January of 194?. I need to look that up. Should be in the obit tomarrow, too…
