What is this?

Can anyone out there identify this Clontarf building?

Here are a couple of clues:

  • It was built in the late 1880s and it is still standing today (at least it was last week!).
  • Maybe one of your ancestors spent a night or two here.

Post a comment if you know what this building is.  Let us know any stories or memories you might have of the building, too!

Ah! A home away from home for some…
And for others, a home for those who have no home. And for some lucky individuals, it WAS HOME. Pearl (Jensen) and Robert Reardon lived there, even though there was no running water.
Pearl’s sister is Ruby Mazurek, mother of 6, wife of Albert “Marion” Mazurek, who also lived in Clontarf along Hwy 9. Ruby’s daughter, Karen Wilson, works parttime at the Post Office in Clontarf and supplied that information to me recently.

    • I remember Donald and Gerald Regan saying that a Reardon couple lived there when they were newlyweds. They also said they remembered hearing that individuals would “sleep it off” there after a festive evening in town.

If it were restored to its former glory, I wonder what it might become?
